3 popular indoor plants

Blog

Indoor plants feature on most décor trend lists and they’re a lovely way to add a fresh pop of green to your home. If you’re thinking of adding to your collection once the national lockdown is over, here are three popular options to consider.

“How lovely is the silence of growing things.”

1. Ficus Audrey
Ficus benghalensis

This fig tree is set to be the next big thing in house plants – and with its large leaves with light green veins, it’s sure to be a beautiful addition to your home. Good news is that Ficus Audrey is also quite low maintenance: simply put it in a spot that gets filtered light, water it once or twice a week, and watch it take shape.

2. Mother in Law’s Tongue
Sansevieria

If you’re looking for something hardy that needs very little attention, then this oddly named plant is for you. With its upright, pointy and variegated leaves, it’ll make a statement wherever you decide to place it. Mother in Law’s Tongue does well in low or bright light and needs to be watered about every week and a half. It enjoys dry soil, so be careful not to overwater it.

3. Bird’s Nest Fern
Asplenium nidus

The Bird’s Nest Fern is a cheerful plant with shiny, green and slightly wavy fronds. While it is easy to look after, this little fern needs some attention now and then to really thrive. It enjoys filtered, medium light and a bit of humidity, and would do well on your kitchen window sill or in a bathroom. And while you’ll want to keep its soil moist, try to avoid overwatering it.
